	Deltec AP1006 Protein Skimmer This model is the largest of the standard Deltec skimmers before moving to the commercial models for sealife centres etc. A good indicator of the power of a skimmer is to look at the size of the opening on the riser tube which on this model is 200mm in diameter. It takes a lot of foam to rise up a tube of that size. Notice too that Deltec skimmers get wider with increasing size and not taller. This has the benefit that it is easier to fit into many places and easier to service but also reduces the head above the pump allowing it to draw in a greater volume of air whilst still retaining the contact time. The skimmer must be supplied with water either by gravity feed from the aquarium or via a separate pump. The European AP1006 is fitted with 6 Eheim pumps each drawing in 600lts of air per hour giving a total of 3,600lts/hour.
